About "PAIMAN"

PAIMAN Alumni Trust is a non governmental, not for profit organization registered with the Joint Registrar of Islamabad Capital Territory under the Trust Act of 1882 on 8th March, 2004. The organization’s multi-faceted services encompass capacity building, economic and social development of community partners, research and advocacy, serving as a resource center for dissemination of updated information as well as serving a platform for civic action for positive change through community mobilization and advocacy. The organization since its establishment in 2004, has successfully implemented more than 80 projects in different sectors.

PAIMAN’s National Network and Linkages

PAIMAN’s has the largest network of socially and politically active women trainers, social mobilizers and researchers exists across Pakistan. PAIMAN undertakes national and international trainings of the network’s members in the art of leadership development, credible & transparent electoral process, gender mainstreaming, gender based violence, women’s role in transforming the political process, political agenda and political institutions, democracy & governance, advocacy, media relations, networking, micro-enterprise development and social cohesion.

Vision

PAIMAN envisions a progressive, tolerant, educated and dynamic civic society where sovereignty is reflected through empowered communities and motivated individuals; where law and order guarantees fundamental rights of each individual regardless of gender, creed, age, social status, religion, political beliefs or physical attribute.

Mission

PAIMAN’s main mission is to serve as a link between people and their communities with opportunities through meaningful initiatives that change their lives for the better. It aims to provide through its research, capacity building and support services and advocacy the relevant connectivity between problems of community development and substantive solutions.

Shafqat Mehmood

Chairperson

Mr. Shafqat Mehmood is the Chairperson and founder of PAIMAN Alumni Trust. He has served in the defense forces for thirty three years and retired in 2001 as a Brigadier. He holds a masters degree in Strategic studies and is a graduate of Staff College, Toronto, Canada. To his credit, he has a variety of professional courses in management, governance, strategic planning, conflict transformation and peace building. After his retirement in 2001, he led a UN project of women’s political participation in Pakistan which inspired him to work for women emancipation and social empowerment thus in 2004 he founded PAIMAN Alumni Trust.

Shabana Fayyaz

Shabana Fayyaz is an assistant professor at the Defense and Strategic Studies Department of Quaid-e-Azam University, Islamabad. She has been associated with the teaching profession for the last 17 years. Ms. Fayyaz is also the coordinator of the Pakistan chapter of Women Without Borders and a member of the advisory board of the Peace and Collaborative Development Network.

Talat Rizwan Siyal

Ms. Talat Rizwan Siyal is advocate by profession having extensive knowledge of the administrative and secretarial procedures in a legal environment. Extensive experience and understanding of laws, legal code, court procedures, precedents and government regulations.

Amir Riaz

Member BOD

Mr. Aamir Riaz has 20 years of professional experience in conducting research and he is an acclaimed columnist in various leading news papers and journals on different social and political issues. He has edited and published different books and consulted for various national and international organizations including USIAD, DFID, GTZ, UNDP, CIDA, Federal Ministry of Education Provincial Local Government Departments.

Mosarrat Qadeem

Executive Secretary to the Board

Ms. Qadeem is working as Executive Director of PAIMAN Alumni Trust and brings the knowledge and experience she acquired during her 14 years as a political science professor at the University of Peshawar. She is a pioneer in the development of user friendly training manuals on CVE, women’s role in community peacebuilding, de-radicalization, community policing for CVE, alternative narrative development, inter/intra-faith harmony, etc. in Pakistan.

Mr. Rasul Jan has served in the defense forces for 23 years and is currently working as Deputy Director Administration at NADRA PHQ Peshawar.
