Under the project ‘Community’s Waging Peace Through Youth and Mothers Peace Groups’, PAIMAN organized a consultative dialogue on 7th October 2015 at Pearl Continental Hotel Peshawar. The Consultative Dialogue was attended by officers from the Police Department, Social Welfare Department, Local Government Department, FDMA, PDMA, members of NGO/CBOs, media and elected representatives. The objective of the meeting was to orient the important stakeholders regarding PAIMAN’s initiative for building bridges of understanding between Government Departments and Civil Society to address violent extremism in a comprehensive manner and to introduce PAIMANs concept of ‘Community Policing’ for addressing ‘Violence.
Mossarat Qadeem (Executive Director PAIMAN) highlighted that countering violent extremism is a complicated phenomenon which needs the collective attention and action of the community and the concerned stakeholders. She said that the colossal problem of violent extremism cannot be resolved until the government and civil society work hand in hand to address it through the use of indigenous knowledge and skills.
